The Cable Beach Getaway Guide

About the Beach:

Cable Beach is one of the most perfectly flat beaches that provide a beautiful panoramic view of the entire coast. The sand is nearly smooth and bright white in colour.  As far as the water is concerned, it is crystal clear and cool.

The most fantastic feature of the beach is that it has rock pools at multiple locations. They are homes to sea creatures such as the octopus and teeny tiny fishes. Every once in a while tides come and take these creatures on board and taking them to distant depths.

Features of the Beach:

  • The beach is best known for swimming and water sporting facilities. Additionally, there are camel rides available for the sunset rides. This is one of the best ways to explore and experience the stunning beach.
  • There are 130 million-year-old dinosaur footprints at the Cable Beach! If you wish to have a look at them then head towards the southernmost end where the Gantheaume Point is located. Furthermore, at this point, you will also find the Gantheaume Point Lighthouse from where you can watch dolphins and migrating whales.
  • There is also the Minyirr Park which acts as a coastal reserve. It can be reached easily from the beach and is operated by the Shire of Broome who work in association with the Rubibi Aboriginal people.
  • The beach holds a significant part in the region’s history because of the telegraph cable that was laid down in the year 1889 between Broome and Java.
  • The northern section of the beach is open for nudists.
  • You can also enjoy the Wind rider Safaris. Sailing through the coast of Kimberly in a trimaran is a one of kind experience. Fortunately, it is completely safe requires no prior expertise of sorts. There are these boats known as leader’s boat which will be right besides yours and it also carries food and drinks for the entire tour. Cable beach is the end point of this journey.
  • In case you do not wish to stay the resorts near the beach then you can go looking for accommodation in Broome, the closest town to the beach.

There are many places and sites that you can visit in and around Cable Beach. Take a look at the following list to get an idea:

  • Sundowner Camel Tours
  • Visit the Buddha Sanctuary
  • Take a helicopter ride and explore the region
  • Visit the various pearl showrooms at the Cable beach
